Online Horse Auction Options
We have decided to change how we sell horses at the sale barn. With the ever changing horse market and online sales, and numbers down at the monthly sales. I feel this will be the most effective auction route. We will only be offering online auctions for the horse portion of the sale. (tack will still be live at the barn 3rd sat of the month)
OPTION #1
We can sell them on the Central Iowa Exchange 24 Hour Facebook Group, which has been up and running selling horses for a couple of years. With this option I will need several short videos and several pictures of the horse. I will need a nice write up including age, height and any information a new buyer needs to know. Your horse will be advertised with people having 24 hours to bid in comments on facebook. Once the horse is sold, it must be delivered to the sale barn for the new owner to pick up.
OPTION #2
We will have a day of selling horses at the sale barn and horses will be sold on CattleUSA. This sale is closed to the public and bidding is allowed only on CattleUSA. We will allow up to 20 horses per sale. The owner of the horse is allowed to be here and sell. We will have the camera set up in the indoor arena and each horse will be shown to potential buyers as being able to walk, trot and lope. There will also be trail obstacles set up if you so choose to ride over them. You will be given as much time as needed to ride and show your horse and let potential buyers bid. We feel this will let buyers actually see what the horses can do and how they travel etc as they bid. Advertising of each horse will start at least one week prior to the sale. I will need several short videos, several pictures and a nice write up.
*CattleUSA auctions will be held in April, May, June, August, September, October. Dates will be announced.
With either option, as always, I will uphold a higher standard on those selling. I expect each horse to be sold with the most honest intentions. Horses must be sound of mind, how it travels, no cribbing, no weaving. If any of these things need to be adressed it must be stated in the write up of horse and also called in the ring. No drugs can be used when selling. I will be the determining factor on saying how the horse appears to be and how it travels to online bidders. The buyers will be buying the horse as stated. So honesty is of utmost importance.
Current coggins and health certificate is required for either option.
My goal is to have a sale that buyers can feel 100% confident in their purchase. I want an atmosphere where sellers are proud to represent their horse.
